20 Quotes That Will Help You Understand Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting its stats base or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.
Typically items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra impact when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies, or obtained as rewards from missions or chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain level before they are upgraded.
To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players must select it and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade statistics and the required component or materials.
There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions are gems that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, but cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding the word Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph by another, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, with the exception of inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important changes from previous versions. Gear is now categorized in tracks, and each item can be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, however the materials needed do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few key items and maximize their impact instead of spreading cost of upgrades across several items.
When an item is finished being leveled, it will be eligible for an upgrade set of components, as well as a boost in the chance that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It will reset to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
After a piece has been upgraded to the maximum level, it can receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's base type. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a normal base will have only two affixes for it, whereas legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade step requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level, and in which slot it is located in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not get to its maximum level, the NPC will give players the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower success rate.
To determine the height of a building engineers employ a level to compare the measurement with a known reference point such as a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with an extremely high degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. Info is a vital aspect of the game and can drastically enhance an item's strength, damage, or other characteristics. You can do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be expensive and should only be used in rare cases.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which can be used to acquire reroll tokens. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item or another item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled is contingent on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.
Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes, which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you could get the stats that mattered most to your build often than other items. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns, and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for all stats. This can be good or bad, depending on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that boosts the power of the item by a set percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added over the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the higher the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.
The game also features several sets, that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is a good method of giving an individual character more power without spending a lot of money.
Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the beginning stages of the game. This is because rerolling could offer a quicker path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and advance in the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They could be of various sizes, contain no elements, or only contain one element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways such as size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an array of upgradeable set items. Certain items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that provide high defense value and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not boost the item's stats much as compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already huge.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique functions that are beneficial for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items to the level of the tiers. For example the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower level items can enhance their defense, and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the item's attributes and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed as well as any necessary items. For example the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general the jewelry and weapons have greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their stats. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade, since its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
